I created a Facebook profile at the urging of friends, but never actually DID anything there (except approve friend requests). When I started getting all that goofy stuff you described, I inactivated my account. I just don't GET the appeal of Facebook. Many of my blogging friends have said it's a place where people they know in the 'real' world can find them. Hell, I blog to AVOID those people! :)
