I'm writing this the morning of February 7. I am going to work at the book store today, then going to my mother's so I will be there to take her to the doctor at 9 a.m. tomorrow (the orthopedist this time!) So I'm doing this list that I got from Kwizgiver (the queen of meme!) and posting it now so I don't have to worry about not having a new entry in the morning. (Compulsives can be so frustrating!)
Ten things that begin with the letter I:
Some things I am not fond of:
1) Idiots.
Now that we have an election cycle that lasts two years...or longer...there are more and more idiots out there, some of them parading as smart people.
2) Intolerance.
Whoever thought Rodney King would become the spokesperson for a generation, but to quote Rodney, "can't we all just get along?" The devisiveness I see based on arbitrary classifications (race, religion, sexual orientation, body type, nationality, etc., etc.) is just appalling. What would Jesus/Mohammed/Buddha think of all this stuff?
3) Illness
I am very fortunate to have fairly good health, but I am not fond of illness, especially when it affects my mother.
Things that make me happy:
4) Internet.
Kwizgiver had this as #10 but it has to be higher on my list. I love being connected to the world, to be able to check anything I want at a moment's notice (thank you, Google). What can I say? I'm addicted
5) Ireland.
Kwizgiver had this on her list also. I remember the very first trip to Ireland, by ferry across from Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire (the port for Dublin) and seeing the land come into view. I had the strongest feeling of "coming home" and that feeling has never left me on several trip to the auld sod.
6) Ice cream.
I feel like Kwizgiver and I could be good friends. This is also on her list and I loved her answer "What can I say? I'm a fat girl. I like ice cream."
7) iPhone.
OK. So it's really a droid, but it is iPhone-like and I have finally come to love it. The problem with it is that now that I'm learning how best to use it and take advantage of all the features, and the more I've watched all my friends and kids using them, it's making me realize that, despite what I've said, I really do want to have an iPad some day!
8) Iceland
I've never been to Iceland, but the thought of maybe going some day makes me happy. I don't know why I feel the desire to visit Iceland, but I have for many years.
9) Impressionists.
I love the Impressionists, especially Van Gogh. I've been to several Impressionists exhibits and always am blown away by what I'm seeing.
10) Indigo.
Indigo runs "That's My Answer," the first web site I go to each morning. She asks usually 3 questions a day on many different topics and a nice little community has grown up around the people who answer the questions. If you haven't checked it out, please do! It's such fun and only takes a couple of minutes a day.
As an example of the diversity, the current questions are: "What is the longest bridge you've ever been on? Did it make you nervous," "How do you deal with jealousy?" "What were your favorite Super Bowl commercials?"

You'll love Iceland. We had wanted to go for a long time, and finally made it in 2010. The land and the people are lovely and fascinating.
I'd like to go to Iceland, too. I'm having fun working my way through the alphabet with my lists of 10 things. I hope you'll do more!
Awwwwwwwwwwww :)
I LOVE the Impressionists! We just saw them at the Milwaukee Art Museum in January. Van Gogh, Monet, Manet, Renoir.... I was in heaven!
