Pickled

FTW 22/28/22 - Pickleball is a game invented in 1965 which has become wildly popular in senior citizen residences (among other places). According to Variety, more than 4.8million people play the sport in the US. Last night Stephen Colbert hosted "the first pickleball tournament" as a celebrity fund raiser. The two-hour show pitted 8 teams to play against each other to the championship trophy (which was actually a soccer trophy because Colbert explained they could not find a pickleball trophy). The winners were singer Dierks Bentley and TV personality Phil Keoghan, the host of Amazing Race.

I loved the show. What a great show for non-athletes. The players are so-so, there are lots of strange errors, the ball does not go so fast over the net that you can't see it, and the players move about the way your neighbors would if they were playing. It was just great fun. Definitely my kind of athletic competition!
